Browning Auto 5 12ga Long-Recoil Semiauto Vent Rib Shotgun With Rare European Anti-Glare Finish
Details
This Browning Auto-5, manufactured by FN in Belgium in 1968, is a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun utilizing the long-recoil operating system. This example is European-market Anti-Glare finish model, which denotes a steel receiver gun with a flat finish that won’t reflect sunlight or show grease and oil smudges from handling. Additionally, this example sports a factory alloy trigger guard – a rare feature to find on steel receiver Auto 5s. This example features the Val Browning two-part carrier system, which enables the “speed loading” these guns became famous for.
This shotgun’s barrel sports a vent rib and improved modified choke – making it equally well suited for trap shooting, longer-ranged sporting clays, or upland hunting.
The gun does exhibit signs of honest wear, but is still functional. The forend has a small crack. The rib exhibits a small crack, but isn’t dented and the damage doesn’t interfere with the sighting plane. The trigger group’s stock retaining screw appears to have been overtightened at some point, with the rear tip of the trigger guard having a crack. The stock is still tight on the gun and this doesn’t affect function, however it may be worth repairing or replacing the trigger guard due to this.
